Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar with Roberto Traven

This last Sunday I went to my gym for a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar training with Former UFC fighter Roberto Traven. He has a 5th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. When I'm on my way in the gym, I think twice if I'll just sit around there because its just been only 16 days since I had my dental extraction at that time. Since I bought a double guard mouthpiece, I chose to train with my teammates. Coach Roberto is a very nice guy. He's so very patient to train me because of my several errors to do the right chokes. Although I forgot already some of the chokes he taught to me, I still remember some easy chokes and how to dominate the fight on the ground. When I go back to training, probably I will remember the chokes that masster Roberto taught to me

My valentine's day

I woke up in the morning at 6:30 AM. Took a shower,ate my breakfast and went somewhere, to the United States Marine corps office! Yeah its weird. No date but the day before the Valentine's day, I talked to my special someone and I she told me that she's in Bicol on Valentine's day! So I tell her to take care of herself and I sent her a bouquet of roses and she saw the bouquet after Valentine's day. Ok lang at least napakita ko ulit sa kanya kung gaano siya ka-special sa buhay ko. Now back to Marines, why I'm with the Marines? I was invited by a recruiter to join them on their tour on Marine Museum and Marine Corps base in Quantico Virginia(1 hour from my place) I saw some guns,planes and katanas from 1800's in the museum. When we arrived in the base, we ate a MRE(meal- ready to eat). The heater inside the MRE is so cool! haha. After that we went to the military police office and I saw some wonderful Rifles(M4 carbine) and handguns(Beretta)

R.I.P Helio Gracie

This past Thursday(January 29,2009) Grandmaster Helio Gracie died in the morning on his sleep in Rio De Janeiro Brazil. He has a 10th degree red belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and 6th dan(Rokudan) red and white belt in Judo. "I created a flag from the art's dignity. I oversee the name of my family with affection and nerves of blood" were his last words. I feel sad for the Gracie family even if I'm a newbie in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu because I just returned in the world of martial arts(MMA to be specific) and I just read some teachings of Grandmaster Helio in some of the books and videos. Grandmaster Helio Gracie was regarded as the creator of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, also known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His legacy will never ever fade in the history of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA.

Dental surgery

It happened on January 30th in VCU-Dentistry building. At 6am I woke up and ate all the foods I want. When I arrived in VCU. I took pictures of myself(tripping). Then I asked my mom to take some pics during the surgery but she don't want to do it because she can't stand the pain that I suffered.So the dentist offered me a help to took some pics(Ayus). During the surgery, I don't feel that much pain except when the time that they trying to remove the teeth from my jaw. . After the surgery, me&my mom went to a drugstore to buy a medicine for the swelling and pain,when we got there I feel the pain already and I feel so cold.After that I just lye down on my bed,took my medicine and slept. Right now I feel ok, although I can't train MMA for 2 more weeks. After 2 weeks, I will push myself to the limit on training to improve my game.

GSP won by TKO

When the time I'm watching UFC 94, there's a lot of great fights like the first fight(Nate Diaz vs. Clay Guida), then the match before the main event(Thiago Silva vs. Lyoto Machida) was so exciting. Both undefeated and have a 13-0 MMA record each. Before the 1st round ended, Lyoto ground and pounded Thiago for the win then Lyoto asked the crowd if he deserves a title shot and the people responded yes.For me, he deserves a title shot. Then the main event(GSP vs. Penn). Bj Penn won the 1st round, but after that GSP dominated the fight against Penn. Penn looked so tired after the 2nd round. Even there's a controversial issue about the vaseline against GSP, for me the vaseline isn't a big deal because as I watched the fight, GSP REALLY dominated on 2nd up to the last round. What Bj penn did was to avoid the punches of GSP. I like both fighters but GSP won. Congratulations GSP
